Voters in Great Sankey North and Whittle Hall Ward will go to the polls on Thursday 1st May to elect a new Borough Councillor.
The surprise election follows the resignation of the former Deputy Leader of Labour run Warrington Council earlier this year, despite only being re-elected less than 12 months ago.
Local care worker and Parish Councillor Chukwuma Eriobuna has been selected as the Conservative Candidate. In a message to local residents, he says he will focus on speaking up for ordinary families at the Town Hall and will prioritise fixing the potholes and pavements, keeping Council Tax low and protecting green spaces for future generations to enjoy.
Chukwuma is deeply worried about the impact of cuts to Winter Fuel payments on pensioners and says he'll work to protect local services for the elderly and vulnerable in Great Sankey North and Whittle Hall if elected.
Chukwuma says:
"I'll take that role seriously, if you elect me to represent you at the Town Hall, i'll be focused on your priorities and will always try to do my best for the people who live in Great Sankey North and Whittle Hall.
"People have told me they want to ensure we: protect our green spaces so that they're available for us all to enjoy. I'll work to secure a new GP surgery promised for this area making it easier to see a Doctor. Most importantly, I'll hold Labour to account and make sure the Council uses money wisely on things that really matter, like repairing roads and providing care for elderly and vulnerable residents. I'm concerned about the impact removing the Winter Fuel Allowance has had on elderly residents and I will do all I can to address this worrying issue."
